Alastair was born in the West Midlands, where he lived until moving to North Wales as a teenager when his father was involved in the development of the Coatings Complex at Shotton Steelworks.

Having completed a degree in Accounting and Finance in Liverpool, Alastair trained and qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1985 with an established local firm in Chester, before moving to Touche Ross, now Deloitte, in London.

Alastair returned to Chester in 1989 to become a partner at Tollit & Stockton, until 2004, when he launched Jeffcott’s Chartered Accountants, which subsequently merged with McLintocks in 2009.

Alastair is a registered statutory auditor, and is responsible for a large and diverse portfolio of clients across many sectors of business. He is a past Treasurer and Chairman of the Chester & North Wales Society of Chartered Accountants.

Outside of work, Alastair played first team rugby union and cricket until age got the better of him, and he remains a keen golfer and cyclist, as well as an avid spectator of all sports.

Alastair acted a treasurer of the North Wales Chrysalis Trust, until the merger of the Trust into Hope House Childrens Hospices, and is a Past-President of the Chester City Club.
